COVID 19 - STATUS REPORT - 3/26
Updated On: Mar 26, 2020
COVID-19 - STATUS REPORT - 3/26

Brothers and Sisters-

Here is the latest CHULA VISTA IAFF LOCAL 2180 update and information as of MARCH 26:

COVID-19 and Local 2180 Members

We are happy to report that currently all Local 2180 members are COVID-19 free. Please continue to protect yourself and others by practicing social distancing and wearing PPE when needed.

Caring for our Local 2180 Retirees

Executive Board Member Ornelas is in the process of reaching out to every Local 2180 Retiree. We want to ensure everyone is doing well in these challenging times. At this point, every Retiree is doing fine and currently, no one has any needs. We will keep you informed if any Local Retiree has a specific need.

Councilmember Steve Padilla

Sadly, Council Member Steve Padilla has tested positive for COVID-19. He is currently on a ventilator at UCSD and is in stable condition. We have been in constant communication with his daughter Ashleigh. We have offered support and are standing by to assist Steve and his family with any needs they may have. Please keep Steve in your prayers.

IAFF and CPF

Our IAFF and CPF have literally been working around the clock to ensure every Local has every COVID-19 resource and tool available at their fingertips. The IAFF has been at the forefront of providing updated information and the CPF is working on emergency legislation in regards to COVID-19 being presumptive for all California firefighters.

Yesterday, Vice President Flores and I joined in on a conference call with IAFF 10th District Vice President Lima, CPF President Brian Rice, and IAFF leaders. The conference call was reassuring to the fact that our Local and Department are implementing the current best practices and support at the highest level is just a phone call away. We will continue to be in constant communication with our IAFF and CPF leadership.

Continued Action Items to minimize risk:

  • Review and complete all Target Solutions assignment
  • Review all IAFF COVID-19 documents
  • Log onto CDC website and review all COVID-19 materials
  • Use IAFF COVID-19 self-screening guidelines for all members
  • Complete station cleaning twice daily - YOUTUBE - LA CITY Station Cleaning
  • Use social distancing (6’ distance) or use mask
  • If you are sick - STAY HOME!

Please continue to take care of yourself and each other.
